Notably, a managerial position requires an individual to strike a balance between tasks and people. This places a critical need for me to exhibit an in-depth understanding of the tasks, and the needs of the employees belonging to my team. Some of the responsibilities and targets would be as follows: Shortly after being employed at the Aveda Corporation, I faced a major setback in my position. My team had the task of meeting certain sales percentage within a period of six months. During this time, the company had launched a new product, and effective marketing was required to ensure that it obtained a niche in the competitive market. I was working with a large marketing team, and I faced challenges in ensuring that all the activities were coordinated. This messed up the program, and the scheduled six months proved insufficient for the completion of the marketing campaign. This placed me under the compulsion to design new strategies of ensuring that the team’s output rose, in a bid to complete the task within the stipulated time (Brower & Balch 2005, p.67). However, beginning the mid 1850’s this election system of senators by the government began to raise concerns among the American citizens, who felt they were being excluded from this important practice. Meanwhile, in 1866, in order to control this election approach, the US Congress passed a law, which was considered the main influence of the 17th amendment. However, this law did not change the election method of senators, thus was less useful, as most people wanted to be involved in voting in their senators. In the year 1893, the proposal for constitutional amendment in favour of direct elections of senators was first made. However, for a long time, this was not implemented, despite it being proposed every year. In 1903, this proposal was made in the US C ongress, but the senate rejected it. However, in May 1912, the Congress passed direct elections of senators as the 17th amendment, and had it ratified in April 1913. Apart from allowing for direct elections of senators, it also allowed for a way of replacing senators, when the senate seat became vacant before the end of a term (Gailmard 324). Therefore, leaf disks of English ivy placed in blue light will be expected to have a higher rate of photosynthesis compared to leaf disks of English ivy placed in green light. In the first experiment, we measured the rate of photosynthesis under blue and green lights. For each sample, the rate of photosynthesis was monitored to demonstrate that each color had an effect on the rate with which the discs of English ivy will photosynthesize. Discs under the green light photosynthesized faster than leaf discs under the blue light in this first experiment. Results obtained were believed not to be correct since photosynthesis is supposed to be faster under the blue light. A possible explanation for these results could be that the foils that were used to cover the beakers could have reflected some light therefore making leaf discs under green light to photosynthesize faster compared to those under blue light. A second experiment was conducted since data obtained from the first experiment was not accurate according to hypothesis. Only two beakers were used, one for green light and the other for blue light.
